Inclusion and Diversity Circle: call for interested members

April 18, 2024

The Inclusion and Diversity Circle is conducting our annual call for new members to join in 2024-2025 for a three-year commitment.

The Inclusion and Diversity Circle is a body of AC employees acting on behalf of the College to jumpstart and manage inclusion and diversity progress for our communities. The group is comprised of interested and committed employees who bring their own knowledge and lived experiences to inform discussions around policy, programming and initiatives at the College which benefit from a wide variety of culturally comprehensive and diverse perspectives. Examples of the efforts this group has been actively involved in include policy efforts such as HR24 and the development of the 2023-2026 IDEA Blueprint. They also lead activities to make our work environment more inclusive, such as hosting events like "Taking a Stand" or spearheading the creation of the Stronger Together murals, as well as the four corners universal washroom body-positive wall art installations.

The Circle is seeking a few new members to join in 2024-2025 for a three-year commitment, and meetings are typically held bi-monthly. Membership composition is based upon a balance of representation across all equity-seeking groups, our campuses, all employee types and areas of discipline. We are particularly interested in seeing nominations for an Indigenous employee representative to join the circle.

How to submit a self-nomination:

If you are interested in nominating yourself, please send a confidential email to diversity@algonquincollege.com and include a written statement, explaining why you would like to become a member and what impact you hope to have, by end of day Friday, May 10, 2024.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kara McNeil, mcneilk@algonquincollege.com.
